Video justD
Our first test of the sandals
After the rehearsal on Saturday We decided to change the output from music beats to a more textural sounds the sounds are: Stepping on leaves, stepping on twigs, water droplet, water splash and wind.
These sounds will be added to ambiance music that will be played in the background

FINAL PROJECT: Cont,
For the form of our final we decided to design a sandal like strap that can be worn over anybody's shoe. And within it there will be the sensors( accelerometer, force resistors) sewn on and input jacks for the arduino.
FINAL PROJECT: revised
Based on the feedback from our prof. we made several changes. In terms of our concept they said that we are putting too many things into one project i.e. the added hands, visuals etc.
for our new concept;
Go back to sketch 2 and think of how to make it good. We had a strong concept in our sketch 2. Extend our sketch 2 of 1 shoe to a pair of shoes. At the same time we must maintain and focus on the quality of motion that our project will create. We will extend but specifying the elements of our project.
FINAL PROJECT: Initial Concepts
We are extending our initial idea of transferring body movements and dance into music and visuals through a wearable circuit throughout the body, and a motion detecting camera. Sensors on the shoes transmit foot movement such as tapping and stepping into a drum beat, while placing the hands on different places on the body complete the music with instrumental loops. Also, the motion of the dancer is translated into visual expressions on a screen by a camera combined with MAX MSP motion detection. This forms a feedback loop between the dancer and the music and visuals he/she is creating:
The dancer creates movements -> the movements create music and visuals -> the music and visuals promote more movement and emotions from the dancer. -> The dancer creates movements...
The dancer creates movements -> the movements create music and visuals -> the music and visuals promote more movement and emotions from the dancer. -> The dancer creates movements...

Research
Conceptual links
This discusses the issues found in connecting sound with movement and that "The fundamental issue of combining dance with interaction and music is that the experience, training and perception of the performers in the domains of dance and music do not cover the same emphasis of performing music or gesture."
Also it discusses stratagies of connecting the different expereinces of music and dance. Stratageis of using perceptual spaces such as related-to-gesture and related-to-sound perception this helps in “Mapping” the movement and specifying the type of movements.
Technical links
These sources helps us in how to conncect the force sensor with the arduino and soft circut of the shoe and the accelerometer with the buzzer all together.
As well as the code for the different frequencies to get the different notes.

Revised and Finalized Sketch 2
After discussing with the proffessors we have revised our idea and decided that we will keep the same concept of sound in relation to movements and potentialy dance. In order to do this we will have to constrain the movement to one leg and specify the type of movements. As well we want to differenciating between the sound in relation to the different movements.
Movements: Slide, tapping with toe and heel, sliding with toe or heel or both.

Sketch 2 Concept Sketch/Technical
Our initial idea of having an environment change in accordance with how you
move your feet/dance. Changes in audio output and visuals.
Got some good data of schematics of the shoes and wiring. I can use Serial – midi converter and convert it with arduino serial input.
Sketch 2 Proposal
Concept
Through an environment we would have the movement of our legs and feet to be the medium in which different emotional states or experiences can be expressed. By moving our feet or legs these movements will be translated into sound as an output. We will focus on at least two emotional states:
High intensity(fast pace movement/dance)
Calm(slow, relaxing movements/dance)
In addition the “environment” will change in accordance with the type of movement through the use of visuals i.e video.
Research
The basic psychic conditions of human beings are bound to specific patterns of movement, that can in turn be translated into sound. These basic experiences can be, at the most general level, universally recognized.
Even when listening to sounds or music, a part of the listening experience is a notion of the body being activated through the sounds. In creating the sound there is a physical effort in producing the sound or music.
The relationship between dancing and music is conditioned by causal relationships between movement and music: when music is kinaesthetically transformed, it becomes dance.

Sketch 1 Idea Refined
Based of the feedback given to us from the Instructors. We have limited our emotions to only 3 emotions. Happy, angry and sad due to the fact that having more emotions that the ball will react will make the overall project to complex. From there we need to focus more on the quality of user interactions instead of the characteristics of the ball.

Sketch 1 Idea
With our initial idea we would want to have interactions with a simple object , such as a circle or ball, depending on how you move.
Hit it -->angry --> changes red
Nobody on screen/you run very fast-->confused -> run around frantically
Default -->happy -> move with bounce-->yellow
Too long out of the screen -->scared -> shakes on the spot --> light blue
Hit it -->angry --> changes red
Hit it too many times --> apprehensive or caution --> moves away from you
Big motion-->shocked --> Jump up really quickly
Nobody on screen/you run very fast-->confused -> run around frantically
If you don’t move for a certain amount of spaces it becomes sad because you are ignoring it--> Sad --> scared for too long --> dark blue and sags.

Initial Ideation: Inspiration
As we were brainstorming some ideas we were inspired by Adam Frank's shadow project. As with the idea of this non corporal thing(shadow) interacting with you and this some what frightening shadow lurking or stalking.
